Supporting Lowcountry Families
One of the most critical aspects of representing a Congressional district is ensuring that policies are in place to support and empower its working families.
One of the most critical aspects of representing a Congressional district is ensuring that policies are in place to support and empower its working families. From pregnancy to childcare and employment, Lowcountry families deserve legislation that puts their interests first. I’m determined to prioritize the constituents of SC-01 over partisan interests, and promise to push for policies that represent the true needs of families in our district.
My opponent, Nancy Mace, has shown her inability to do so. She tried to stop the American Rescue Plan Act, legislation that reduced poverty by strengthening the child tax credit. She voted against codifying Roe, despite the fact that maternal deaths have risen since the federal right to an abortion was stripped away by the Supreme Court. While in the State legislature, she even voted against increasing the accessibility of school lunches for students. Mace continually votes against avoiding government shutdowns, which would force military and law enforcement officers to work without pay, stunt disaster relief efforts, and halt business loans for Lowcountry small businesses. From reproductive rights to keeping our government afloat, her actions show that her allegiance is to ideology, not the families of SC-01.
Unlike Nancy Mace, I plan to work with Congressmen on both sides of the aisle to pass legislation that improves the quality of life for the families of SC-01 and across the U.S. That’s why I am prepared to support the following in Congress:
The Expanding Childcare in Rural America Act of 2023
The Preventing Maternal Deaths Reauthorization Act
The More Child Care and Jobs for Military Families Act
The American Family Act
The School Meals Expansion Act
The FAMILY Act
Our Lowcountry families are a stronghold of the district. Once elected, I will follow through on my promise to put their interests first, and return SC-01 to a district which votes for common sense, family focused legislation.
