Foreign Policy

America is a nation built on protecting self-determination and democratic values both at home and abroad, and the Lowcountry deserves representation that will help our allies continue to remain independent, prosperous, and free from malign influence.

America is a nation built on protecting self-determination and democratic values both at home and abroad, and the Lowcountry deserves representation that will help our allies continue to remain independent, prosperous, and free from malign influence.

Today, the aims of American foreign policy are threatened by a myriad of situations, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the events unfolding in Gaza following the horrific attack on Israeli civilians, and China’s imperialist aims in the South Pacific. With complicated conflicts unfolding globally, it is imperative that the U.S. Congress can respond in a just and calculated way to foreign events.

Under Michael B. Moore’s leadership, Lowcountry constituents can be assured that American allies will never be abandoned, which is currently happening under Nancy Mace. While Mace votes against supporting Ukraine’s independence, Moore, if elected, would instantly reinstate a presence in the Lowcountry that revolves around siding with democracy, not dictators. Additionally, Moore will advocate for a peace process in the Middle East that will ensure stability and a right to self-determination for both the Israeli and Palestinian people. The Lowcountry deserves better than leadership that vilifies millions to appease one man; Donald Trump. Moore will establish a sense of calm and a willingness to find lasting solutions to international crises, instead of using violent rhetoric for partisan gain.

To champion America’s foreign policy aims, I am prepared to support legislation such as:

  • The PACT With Ukraine Act

  • The Banning Oil Exports To Foreign Adversaries Act

  • The Global Respect Act

  • The Support UNFPA Funding Act

American foreign policy also exists to protect U.S. citizens, which is why Moore is prepared to push for hate crime legislation in South Carolina. Citizens of our state and district shouldn’t fear persecution based on their race, religion, or ethnicity. Enacting hate crime legislation in South Carolina, one of only two states lacking this legislation, would provide a buffer against the rise of antisemitism, islamophobia, and other hate-based crimes across the Lowcountry. Almost nine years on from the atrocity committed at Mother Emanuel in Charleston, time is up to provide legal protections for those at greatest risk in our district. Let's pass the Clementa C. Pinckney Hate Crimes Act, allowing our vision of a secure world to become replicated right here in the Lowcountry.
