Protecting Our Coastal Communities
The Lowcountry’s coastline provides its residents with jobs, natural beauty, and a sense of pride. To ensure that our coastal waterways, land, and communities are advocated for in Congress, this District needs a representative who will fight every day to combat climate change and secure clean jobs that will empower our communities. We here in the Lowcountry know better than most: The threat posed by climate change is real, and we must take decisive action to protect our flourishing coastal communities from environmental disasters.

Nancy Mace continually votes against legislation that provides jobs and federal funding for environmental resilience, clean energy, and resources to limit the effects of climate change. For example, she voted against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, calling it part of a “socialist wish list”. Once the bill passed, Mace showed up for photo ops to celebrate historic projects funded by the bill, such as the $26 million award to transition Charleston’s bus fleet into a zero-carbon fleet. Mace also voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, which cemented the Lowcountry’s importance in the “Battery Belt”, as seen by Redwood Materials’ incoming electric battery recycling plant. Her rhetoric doesn’t match her voting record, and we can't trust her with an issue that impacts whether our children and grandchildren will have a habitable planet for generations to come.
As your Congressman, Moore could be trusted to provide federal funding, jobs, and a voting record that matches the will of Lowcountry residents. Moore will arrive in Washington, D.C. ready to fight for flood mitigation funding, increased protections for cultural heritage corridors, and an influx of employment opportunities that will benefit workers as well as the Lowcountry’s wellbeing.
As your Congressman, I am prepared to champion legislation such as:
The A. Donald McEachin Environmental Justice For All Act
The SAFE Act
The Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration Act
The Energy Resilient Communities Act
For South Carolina, government inaction is no longer an option. Sooner rather than later, our families and neighbors will bear a disproportionate burden of the climate crisis. There is only one candidate in this Congressional race who will combat the climate crisis and ensure that Lowcountry jobs can make our district cleaner, more prosperous, and able to withstand the effects of climate change. That candidate is Michael B. Moore.
