An Economy That Works for Everyone

As a business executive with nearly four decades of private sector experience, I know firsthand that a healthy economy can empower all members of society. I also know that for far too long, our neighbors have struggled to cope with rising prices and the cost of living in the Lowcountry, while the wealthiest earners fail to pay their fair share in taxes and reap the rewards of a broken financial system.

Nancy Mace, on the other hand, is completely removed from what it takes to empower Lowcountry workers and businesses. She voted against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, CHIPS Act, and Inflation Reduction Act, key achievements of the Biden-Harris Administration that created countless jobs and economic incentives for domestic businesses. Mace also voted consistently against workers, including her support for allowing employers to remove protections for health plans, supporting the elimination of food assistance for millions of Americans, and her disregard for legislation that would protect American taxpayers from fraud.

I’m proud of my labor and economy-related endorsements from organizations such as the AFL-CIO and United Auto Workers, and to continue making the Lowcountry an economic and labor-friendly hub, I am prepared to support legislation in Congress such as:

  • The Paycheck Fairness Act

  • The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act

  • The Fairness for Farm Workers Act

  • The CARE Act

  • The PRO Act

Additionally, I recognize the importance of small businesses to the Lowcountry and am prepared to push for legislation that will eliminate the $20 billion in subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. By transferring these funds to small businesses, America can get back to its roots of small enterprise innovation and ingenuity. We need to give all companies an equitable chance of driving in revenue, and with my leadership, we can make it happen. I believe in economic policy that uplifts working families, respects labor rights, invests in local businesses, and holds big corporations accountable. Together, we’ll ensure everyone has a fair shot at success in South Carolina.
